Argentina protested before the Uruguayan government RAE ARGENTINA TO THE WORLD

British-ran Malvinas stand in Montevideo fair

The Argentine Government rejected the presence of a British-ran desk on the Malvinas Islands at an agricultural fair in Uruguay.

The Foreign Ministry informed about the steps taken before the Uruguayan authorities over the installation of a sector dedicated to the archipelago within the United Kingdom stand.

The latter is part of the International Livestock Exhibition and International Agro-Industrial Show (EXPO PRADO), which takes place between September 9 and 18 in the Uruguayan capital Montevideo.

Argentina's Ministry of Foreign Affairs demanded the neighboring country's government not to carry out official contacts on Malvinas-related issues with representatives not recognized by Buenos Aires.

In this context, the Foreign Ministry condemned the British attempt to position the Islands as an entity detached from Argentina and to pass off as "normal" the illegitimate occupation of that territory.

The official communiqué emphasizes that the Argentine government has been claiming sovereignty over the Malvinas since the UK seized them by force in 1833.
