River Plate paid tribute to the club's players and former players who won the World Cup with the Argentine National Team.
Before yesterday's match against Argentinos Juniors, tribute was paid to Daniel Passarella, Norberto Alonso and Ubaldo Fillol, who won the 1978 World Cup. A relative of the late Leopoldo Luque was also in attendance.
Oscar Ruggeri and Héctor Enrique, members of the team that won the Cup in 1986 with Diego Maradona as captain, were also honored at the Monumental Stadium yesterday.
Also present were the most recent world champions: River's current goalkeeper, Franco Armani, and former players Pablo Aimar and Roberto Ayala.
The former was a substitute in the Albiceleste team that triumphed in Qatar 2022, while the other two were part of the coaching staff headed by coach Lionel Scaloni.
